Amazon CloudWatch Alarms now supports tags in alarm actions payload
Amazon CloudWatch now lets customers include alarm tags in the payloads it sends to Amazon SNS, AWS Lambda, and Amazon EventBridge when an alarm changes state. The setting is off by default, can be configured per alarm, and supports all tags, selected tag keys, or all tags except selected keys. It applies to metric, composite, and log alarms and is unavailable in the Middle East (UAE) and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions.
What changes for platform teams
Platform teams routing many alarms through a shared notification pipeline can read owner, environment, or service tags directly from the event, removing per-event ListTagsForResource calls. Teams should check whether their Regions are covered and decide which tag keys to expose in messages.
