Amazon ECS Managed Daemons can now collect json-file logs from application containers on Amazon ECS Managed Instances
Amazon ECS now supports the json-file log driver on ECS Managed Instances and adds log driver volumes for ECS Managed Daemons. Application containers write logs as local json-file format files, and a managed daemon can read them through a volume mount without host bind mounts or root privileges. Amazon ECS keeps each container's logs in a directory named by container ID until the container is removed.
What changes for platform teams
Platform teams can run one managed daemon per instance to collect logs from all containers using the json-file driver, using their preferred observability agent. The feature is available in all commercial AWS Regions where ECS Managed Instances and Managed Daemons are offered, at no additional cost.
